Our Journey
Piseth Seng's journey with coffee began in 2016 at Footprints Café in Phnom Penh. What started with pulling espresso shots and practicing latte art quickly grew into a deep pursuit of coffee knowledge. At first, he thought a beautiful latte meant great coffee, but he soon realized coffee is more than just aesthetics. It’s about its origin, process, precision, and story.
Originally from Banteay Meanchey, Piseth moved to Phnom Penh to pursue a degree in Business Management. While studying, he dove deeper into the world of coffee, eventually earning his SCA Barista Professional certification in 2019. His passion and discipline took him further: he became an Authorized SCA Trainer from 2019 to 2022, mentoring the next generation of Cambodian baristas.
A turning point came in 2018 when Piseth trained for the Khmer Barista Championship. It was one of the most intense, defining moments in his career, requiring creativity, technical mastery, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Piseth’s approach is grounded in balance—between science and creativity. He believes that while science brings consistency, creativity is what makes a cup memorable.
Today, as co-founder of The Bean Embassy, Piseth brings together everything he's learned: barista discipline, education, leadership, and a deep respect for Cambodian coffee.
From sourcing to roasting to brewing, he continues to shape how Cambodia experiences coffee—one meaningful cup at a time.
